Each year on the First Sunday of Lent the Bishop gathers all those people who will be entering the Church at the Easter Vigil at an event called the Rite of Election. This begins the final stage of preparation for the candidates before they receive the sacraments of Initiation. At the Rite of Election each person is personally greeted by the Bishop and then inscribes their name in the Book of the Elect.
